****Two months later****

It had now been a year since Deuce and I had met, and I decided that he was the direction I wanted to go. It seemed like every course I took there was a road block, and if I was going to get my moms out of trouble and handle my debt because Sallie Mae was now knocking at my front door, I needed some got damn money. Yes, Deuce had his fair share of fuck ups, but hell, who didn’t. I was in love with him and I wanted to make it work.

“You have a collect call from ‘What’s up baby girl’ would you like to accept the charges?” I pressed one and followed the prompts to talk to my guy.

“Hey baby.”

“What’s up baby girl? So are you ready?” he asked. I was nervous as hell, but what other choice did I have.

“I guess so. I’m still in Houston.”

“Yea, I know. You know I have eyes on you. It’s cool. You can stay out there for a little while longer if that’s what you want to do. What needs to be handled can be done there. I’m really missing you though baby girl. I got a surprise for you though,” he said. His surprises always excited me because this nigga had so many got damn tricks up his sleeves. It was crazy as hell how we were able to make moves from a jail cell, but my baby did that.

“I miss you too baby, more than you’ll ever know. This has been one hell of a year, but I’m just trying to get better with time.”

“And you will baby girl, believe that. I got you if no one else does. I got some shit I need to tell you, but you know how that shit goes. I’ll get that information to you soon though. How’s your moms holding up?” he asked.

About a month ago, I had told him about the things that had taken place with my mom and he said not to worry, he would handle it. Next thing I know, there’s a knock on the door and a big ass black nigga was standing there with a duffle bag in his hands. He shoved the bag my way and turned to walk back to who knows where. I grabbed the bag, went to the room and was shocked as hell when I opened it up. It was a duffle bag full of cash, and there was a bunch of cards and a note that read: As long as you ride for me, I will ride for you. Love you baby girl. And just like that, all my mother’s issues were solved. This man had come through in more ways than one, so how could I not ride for him. There was still much more we had to learn about one another, but we had a lifetime to figure it all out.

“She’s fine baby. She tells me to tell you thank you everyday.”

“Tell her its no problem.
